You couldn’t have a guy like Chris walking through Marcy. The music marathon, taking place this week, has never really compared to its Austin counterpart SXSW—after all, it's pretty much just like any other week in the city, but with a few more bands. So yesterday we staked out the badge pick-up spot, Judson Memorial Church, to talk to some people getting their laminates. And around midnight, Baldwin finally got a chance to head down to Zuccotti Park and speak with protesters. We first started hearing the rumblings of an HBO adaptation of Franzen's 2001 novel The Corrections back in September, when Brooklyn indie darling Noah Baumbach threw his hat into the director's ring. Then, at this month's New Yorker fest, Franzen took a break from name-dropping Oprah to confirm the deal, adding that the adaptation would be a full four-year series. You get the essential visions of the NYPD dragging protesters away, a brass band, and besuited brokers chomping on cigars. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that talks are getting serious for a new hourlong drama from the trio, set in 1977 New York, following the adventures of a coke-addled record executive. Jay-Z will guest star on Warren Buffet’s new animated series Secret Millionaires Club (is this thing real? ) playing the industry titan side of himself. Ephemeral NY recalls that in July of that year, more than one rhesus monkey was spotted on the 1 train. Just earlier today we heard that Christopher Nolan wanted to film scenes for The Dark Knight Rises at Zuccotti Park, and now Viacom may be the next group to be profiting from the 99%. Architecture and aero-buffs were thrilled at the announcement, since the much-loved terminal has been closed to the public since 2001. Open House New York reps tell us that over 1,000 people came through the terminal, which is currently being renovated, during the one afternoon that it was open. The Crossroads of the World should really be jam packed with screaming people, especially when a new year is upon us. Well, it seems the suits over at the Times Square Party Down Council had the same thought. Their solution: they've invited both Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber to perform in usually desolate area, this December 31st during something called Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, hosted by Ryan Seacrest. Somehow he didn't manage to bag Scarlett Johansson (who has been vocal about her love of both President Obama and Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer), but he did get Ben Stiller, Matt Damon, Sean Penn, Kristen Wiig, Kevin Spacey, Ted Danson, and Mary Steenburgen.

Joseph Gordon Levitt Nightwing Trailer

Each season has been less faithful than the last, but the truth is that the ASOS split into Season 3 and Season 4 allowed them to have most of the book in there, and that won’t happen in Season 5. Season 3 and 4 suffered a bit from stretching out the ASOS story arcs of certain characters, such as Jon and Stannis. Arya, too —although I loved every minute of her with the Hound, I must admit the plot progression was next to null in season 4. Granted, Brienne’s, Sansa’s and Bran’s stories might meander a bit because they’ll have to invent stuff and in the case of Sansa and Bran maybe stretch out early TWOW material into a season. However, the rest of the characters have a season jam-packed full of thick plot, which hasn’t really happened in the show since Season 2. Season 1 (and book 1 as well) had the most cohesive, open-and-shut story; Season 2 didn’t get there, particularly for Dany, but the incoming threat of the Battle of Blackwater kept it together for most storylines. I believe Season 5 will be the first in a long time to feel this way, with characters starting a particular arc at the start of the season and ending it by the end. Matters of adaptation aside, combining the books is what provides them the opportunity to do this. And no introducing Euron or Victarion in S6 won’t work, it’ll just feel rushed. Season 1 will always hold a special place in my heart, it was perfect. The very strength of this show is the ability to turn them into central players and build up the audience interest in all the new storylines along with the former ones. Marry: Doran. Need I say more ? Smart, incredibly strong, deeply gentle. That’s a catch. Kill: Roose. Freaks me out like nothing else. My level of anxiety is directly proportional to the length of my posts (which says something about how much I care for the Iron Islands).

Maybe. Now that I think about it I don’t believe they”ll announce important parts at all (like Howland Reed or Rhaegar). Lyanna’s part for S6 wasn’t announced either right. They didn’t specified features akin to Sean Bean for the Toj scene casting description. The Lieutenant sounds a bit like the Dothraki equivalent of Grey Worm. I can see Daenerys wanting them to have a recognizable battle leader in the same way the Unsullied do; Daario seemed to take up that role to an extent at the end of last season, but he was left behind in Meereen. The Dothraki fighting style is different to that of the Unsullied as well, so having a Dothraki voice on her War Council would make sense. Given that the Merchant and Lovely Lady are to be of unspecified ethnicity, I wonder if they are to appear in Dorne or Oldtown. Those living in the former are of mixed ethnicity, and the latter is somewhere that a prosperous merchant would gravitate to. Beyond that, I cannot see an Essosi location unless Daenerys has a stop off point before reaching Westeros (Volantis again, maybe? but given the ground she will need to cover in two shortened seasons I think that unlikely. The General, City Guard and Young Lord all seem to be for locations in the south of Westeros. While KL is the obvious location, Oldtown is also a possibility. I do wonder if either the General or Young Lord is perhaps one of the Highgarden bannermen, sent by Olenna to Daenerys after she reaches Westeros. Or, given that Sam has reached Oldtown, could they be casting a Lord for the city. The City Guard is likely to be for either Oldtown or KL, and the mention of the suspicious-looking person is intriguing. Could Jorah head to the Citadel for a cure and try to sneak into the city. Could she try to take KL from within in a slightly similar way to Yunkai or Meereen.

This is important for Danaerys’ character development, as she aims eventually to rule over both peoples, but it also rests on an interesting practical question about the merits of fighting free vs wearing heavy armor. Heavy armor certainly wins here, as Ser Jorah’s saves his life and allows him to get rid of the sulky Qotho using his Westerosi fighting style. Naturally, he proceeds to give him a thorough beat down. At last. However, one of these knights, who is very tall, stands out for throwing Loras to the ground and pointing a knife at his throat, rather than accepting defeat when disarmed of sword. This turns out to be not a knight at all, but a woman, and this is the fight that gets her onto Renly’s Kingsguard, over the objections of pretty much everyone else. As an introduction to a major character, this is a pretty good one. For romantics, this is also pretty much the beginning of Jaime’s admiration for Brienne. You’d think that a man attacking the Hound, who has a deathly fear of fire, with a flaming sword would have an advantage. Unfortunately for Arya, Sandor Clegane is extremely difficult to kill, and the Hound’s ability to fight back despite his obvious terror and burning shield is impressive. Luckily for Ser Beric, he happens to have a Red Priest on hand as his revival immediately following the fight is as impressive as the fight itself. However, Brienne was fighting it with a wooden sword when Jaime got there, and keen to keep going (her initial response to his command to “get behind me” is “I will not! ). Of course, the real fight is here is a verbal one, as Jaime manages to convince Locke to just let this one go in the best interests of everyone. And since this is adapted almost exactly from the same scene in the 2000 book, right down to the pink dress, any resemblance to Anchorman is an unfortunate coincidence. And so we get Karl Tanner, a Night’s Watch mutineer who led the mutiny against Ser Jeor Mormont and has been sitting pretty in Craster’s keep, treating his daughter-wives just slightly worse than Craster himself did, ever since. And so it is particularly satisfying to see one of these wives help Jon to finish him off during the battle at the keep. However, we’ve seen Gendry’s huge hammer lying in the boat, and we know that we won’t get to the end of the scene without seeing him use it.

Given ADWD and AFFC more meandering tone, it’s easier to change some things I reckon. Sorry the North is down there’s only WM left for the Starks. If W. . is cut this show has jumped the shark. If W. . is cut this show has jumped the shark. That’s one of the problems with the idea: if GRRM was going that way, then he should have done a lot more to develop this possibility in the book series itself. The “name” doesn’t have to be there for the actions to follow. GRRM probably would have done it that way if he’d been writing this for TV or film. However, in books, you cannot write a nameless chorus easily: it is clumsy and inefficient. So, you write named spokesmen (or spokeswomen) for groups of people. That is why films and TV series almost always go the chorus route, and why books almost always go the names spokesperson route. But do you really think that they were honest about the “Dany” part. They had lost contact with any info regarding Dany and by putting Tyrion with the Griffs, I fully believe he was meant to figure the Griffs out and travel with them to Volantis, and maybe even inspire them a bit. As you know, they abandoned Tyrion before Volantis and Tyrion got kidnapped by Jorah. Was Jorah informed about Tyrion’s arrival beforehand?

That insisting we do better to root out racial bias is not an attack on cops, but an effort to live up to our highest ideals. (APPLAUSE) And I understand these protests -- I see them. They can be messy. Sometimes they can be hijacked by an irresponsible few. Police can get hurt. (APPLAUSE) Protesters can get hurt. OBAMA: Just as we should hear the students and co-workers describe their affection for Philando Castile as a gentle soul. And know that his life mattered to a whole lot of people of all races, of all ages, and that we have to do what we can without putting officers' lives at risk, but do better to prevent another life like his from being lost. With an open heart, we can worry less about which side has been wronged, and worry more about joining sides to do right (APPLAUSE) Because the vicious killer of these police officers -- they won't be the last person who tries to make us turn on one another. The killer in Orlando wasn't nor was the killer in Charleston. We know there is evil in this world, that's why we need police department departments. (APPLAUSE) But as Americans, we can decide that people like this killer will ultimately fail. We can decide to come together and make our country reflect the good inside us, the hopes and simple dreams we share. We also glory in our suffers because we know that suffering produces perseverance, perseverance character, and character hope. For all of us, life presents challenges and suffering. Accidents, illnesses, the loss of loved ones; there are times when we are overwhelmed by sudden calamity, natural or man-made. All of us, we make mistakes, and at times we are lost. And as we get older, we learn we don't always have control of things, not even a president does.
